The Locket

When I was young, I loved it when my Grandma would tell me her and my Grandfathers love story. This story really showed me what it mean’t to be loved and to love someone. It all started when my Grandma and Grandpa were 20 years old. My Grandma came from a very poor family and when she was 16 years old her parents gave her a family heirloom (the locket that you see above, which is made out of real gold). The locket had a picture of her mum and dad. She lost her dad to cancer when she was 18 years old, so it was the only picture she had left of him. My Grandma loved to sing, so one night while she was singing at a pub. she met eyes with my Grandpa. She smiled and winked at him. This where my Grandpa would tell me that this is when he decided he needed to who she was. As my grandma finished singing, she got off staged and left the pub. But as she was leaving she noticed that her necklace was missing, so she raced back to the stage to see if it fell off there, but little did she know that my Grandpa had noticed it had fallen her neck and picked it up. My grandfather returned it to her and asked my Grandma on a date. As one date led to another my Grandparents eventually got married. They weren’t wealthy, but Grandma didn’t care that my Grandpa couldn’t buy her fancy jewelry or clothes. She loved him because he made her happy and every small little action he did made her fall in love with him all over again. At a young age my grandma taught me that love can’t be bought. It is something to special. And I can’t wait to feel that love my Grandparents have for each other.

I hope this story shows you that love is something special and you should cherish every moment with whom you love. Love shouldn’t be shown by gifts that were bought, but by words that were said and by little things that were done.
